I often stop by here because of the delicious beers and whiskey. 🤗👍 Just try something different! Great !! 🤤🥃🍺
We ate really well here!
Very nice people here. Beer and food tastes good. Our room is comfortable enough for a few days.
Ambience is great and worth seeing. You shouldn't eat there. Had ordered SCHNITZEL with asparagus and we were looking forward to it. What came was 4 sticks of asparagus breaded with hard potatoes and shaped meat such as SCHNITZEL. We complained but real schnitzel was out. But had to pay full price.
I decided on the baked knuckle and there was nothing to complain about. However, I was surprised by the very tasty beer that is brewed here. The photos of the location speak for themselves. The visit gave me a lot of pleasure and I'll be back, for sure ...
Very tasty catfish eaten. The home brewed beer is very good.
Very nice, humorous and attentive Petsonal. Good Thuringian cuisine with fair prices. Very tasty ginger liqueur. The beer tastes great too. We will be back!!
Here the guest can enjoy delicious unfiltered beer and eat well. The service is friendly. I can recommend this place without hesitation.
That the paper mill in Jena is known for a well-brewed beer is not only known in Jena. We recently had an overnight family celebration there. For us it was a successful evening and a restful night. Only the next morning for breakfast was not that pleasant from our side and it clouded the positive impression a bit. If you start a breakfast time the day before at CheckIn, you should assume that it will be kept to a certain extent by both sides in order not to mess up the business, but that by both sides, guest and employee. But if you have to wait three quarters of an hour (8.45am - 9.30am) and then somehow help yourself, that's not exactly pleasant. Because we weren't the only ones, but the only ones with a handicapped child. I don't blame the breakfast staff here, it's just a question of organization. In addition, you have to organize the whole thing a little differently at the moment if the breakfast room is too small and you have a fully occupied house. But that was really the only small problem we had. That's why I still give the house 5 stars, because otherwise we felt completely at ease. The food was very good, the tour through the brewery was the absolute highlight. The master brewer who did the tour with us was just wonderful. With a lot of fun but also a lot of technical knowledge, he showed us through the premises. All in all, the paper mill in Jena is highly recommended.
Great food, but especially the delicious beer is to be highlighted. Nice atmosphere and the waiters do a great job too! We would love to come back!
If you want to eat great then this is the place for you. The self-made beer is awesome Insider tip for Wiskky connoisseurs the 10 year old Holzbock whiskey 🥃 take the time to smell and taste it
It was a wonderful evening, the food was very, very tasty, the staff is super friendly and the inn has a really nice atmosphere. I've been here very often and always love to come back
Clean hotel rooms, good location in Jena, everything is nice and green outside, good beer and the atmosphere fits. The only drawback, the kitchen closes quite early, for craftsmen who have to work overtime it will be difficult with dinner, but the service tries very hard to organize something.
We liked the Braugasthof very much. One comes from the street in a nice big garden. We had a great time there with coffee, cake and ice cream.
The two night stay was "okay". Clean room with a very rustic flair. Unfortunately, it was stuffy under the roof and on the hot days you could have thought about ventilation. The bathroom was set up a bit strange and unfortunately my husband did not fit into the shower at 2 meters. Staff on the first evening were very attentive and on the second evening rather through growing and only partly friendly. Food was ok. The chicken and the rice unfortunately a little too dry. The Fassbrause is delicious. The older employee at breakfast should be called negative. Lots of really unfriendly comments were unnecessary. Hospitality is different.
The food and drinks (especially the beer) were really good. The catering industry should consider employing more waiters, etc. or shortening the opening times. Both before Corona and currently, we were made aware of the fact that the restaurant was closing and orders could no longer be accepted over an hour before the end of opening hours (8:45 pm). Edit: With orders we mean drinks, of course. Shouldn't they be affected when the kitchen closes?
After 2 nights / B in Suite 33: 5 stars for the team breakfast! Everything clean, everything fresh and prepared and served with love. Thank you very much. The room: Upon arrival clean and tidy, missing remote control for TV reported immediately. Unfortunately, no solution to the problem until departure - 2 days no TV use possible. An intermediate cleaning did not take place, trash and waste bin in the bathroom were not emptied. Unfortunately, no reaction from the management on the invoice. Therefore only 3 stars in total.
I found it very nice there - I could sit outside wonderfully, the staff was very friendly and courteous and I really enjoyed my salad 👍
Great local beer and German traditional food. Spacious outdoor area perfect for summer. Recommended to go if you are in Jena
We felt very comfortable!
Was the start after the shutdown. A blessing to finally be able to eat again. Relaxed and pleasant despite the necessary hygiene requirements. Very nice staff, thank you very much. 🙂
Great beer, great food in a great atmosphere... One of the best places to enjoy in Jena.
Food is delicious
A very nice hotel, oldfashioned. With nice food, very nice beers, a pleasant beergarden. Excellent breakfast
Great place with good atmosphere and friendly staff. We stopped for lunch and really enjoyed ourselves.
Absolutely beautiful place with lots of Charme. The food is amazing and the portions really big. The waitress was super nice and attentive. Highly recommended!
Nice
Nice Event Location.
Very nice
The old brewery is a beautiful, cozy location for events of all kinds. As locals of Jena, we like to come here for special lunches or dinners with friends and family. The Papiermühle doesn't just offer its own beers and liqueurs, but also traditional and local cuisine. It is definitely one of the best places to eat in Jena.
Our stay was very positive. The rooms were extremely clean and had everything we needed. Nice restaurant with quality food. Would stay again.
Super
Nice food, good beer tasting
Very nice place to stay. I was there for business, we had a drink at the bar brewery of the accommodation, very convenient. A bit off site if you are going in the city every day, but very calm and cosy. Breakfast is proposed in supplement. Maybe a bit expensive for the limited choice. Good overall impression.
War super.
Good beer. Didn't really care about anything else.
Tasty dinner for suitable prices. Typical german food. Nice place. Good service. Good bear.
Good and fast service with waiters in traditional German garment. Food is not quite mine and the menu is slightly overpriced. Overall, a great place for an authentic Teutonic experience.
Not very surprising German food. Pork was not crispy. Process are ok, but maybe to expensive for jena.
Taxi;)
Was a pretty nice day there. Food was nice and a very special variety of beer.
Top
A typical German restaurant with amazing beer. They have their own brand and I love it
Fancy German food with really poor service. We were there with 5 people for dinner. Hab to wait 20 minutes to order. Staff was demotivated and slow. The food was pretty good and even served pretty fast. But whenever we needed someone to order, we hat to wait for aber (although there were 4 waiters for 15 tables). I tried to Talk to the manager but couldn't come through. In conclusion: The first time in my life i didn't Tip.
The place is very typically German with possibly the best German food in Jena.
Good food, slow service
Very nice waiters and tasty food. Really enjoyable drinks
The beer is awesome - and fresh since they make it themselves. Food was great too and went nicely with the beer. Overall nice atmosphere and I'd definitely recommend! One of the best foods and beers I've tried in Germany this far!
date of visit: 29-30 Apr 14 I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the restaurant/ garden and guest room. I was stuck on the fold out bed in the suite, and it was too hard for an old man of 63 years old. Had I been 16 y.o., it would have been fine. We had the window open to cool the room, and road noise was noticeable. I liked both meals, and the breakfast was enough, and typical of 1989, when I first visited West Germany. It was not 5 stars, but but good. I thought my asparagus and lachs was quite tasty. Beer and whiskey was excellent. We walked up to Cospeda after lunch {2 beers}, and rolled right back down the plateau for an afternoon in the bier garten! I would take a date here in a minute, but she must drink beer and enjoy the outdoors / rustic ambiance. My wife of 40 years would be happy here, as it is not too pretentious. It was very thinly staffed, which may explain some of the 2 star reviews. P.S. they tolerated my lack of/poor German language quite well, I than them for their courtesy.
They brew excellent beer and serve very good food!
